     NOTES AND NEWS

Week of August 9th,  2009

JOIN US FOR BIBLE CLASS ON 1 & 2 PETER! In Peter’s epistles he instructs Christ’s sheep how to deal with challenges facing the early Christian church—challenges that we also face today. Class is held in the Welcome Center on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. and on Mondays after our worship service. Hope to see you there!

ST. JOHN'S ROOT CREEK OWLS (Organization of WELS Lutheran Seniors) will have its annual Cemetery Picnic at 10:00 a.m. on August 12th. We will meet in front of church to view the new monument and talk about some church pioneers. Dowsing for graves has been fun in the past, and with the help of some guests, we may "unearth" some surprises. Additional surprises guaranteed. Bring your own lawn chair, lunch, and beverage. Dessert provided. WE ALWAYS WELCOME GUESTS. We appreciate your old Christmas and birthday cards for the Prison Ministry.

ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN SCHOOL AND CHILD CARE will be in a booth at an expo at Southridge Mall on Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16, 2009.  This expo will help get the word out about our school and child care program. This event is from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.  We will be in our booth to talk about our school and to hand out brochures and marketing items from St. John’s. Thank you to those who have signed up to help in this outreach opportunity.
