JOIN US FOR BIBLE CLASS ON 1 & 2 PETER! In Peter’s epistles he instructs Christ’s sheep how to deal with challenges facing the early Christian church—challenges that we also face today. Class is held in the Welcome Center on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. and on Mondays after our worship service. Hope to see you there! MISS BELINDA DIERCKS has accepted the call we extended to her to serve as our Extended Learning teacher. We thank the Lord for leading her to join our faculty. We pray that God will bless her ministry among us. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! “EMBRACING OUR NEIGHBORS” is the Welcome Center Open House to the community. We need your help if we’re going to continue serving coffee on Sunday mornings. Two options are available: set up before the early service or clean up after the late service. If you’re an early riser, you can help brew coffee at 7:15 a.m. so that we have coffee ready for those who come to our first service. Clean-up after the second service takes about twenty minutes. Please sign up at the kiosk in the Welcome Center for the dates that work for you. For more information, please contact Sandy Bartsch at 414.545.8651. ST. JOHN’S HOME & SCHOOL is currently holding their annual fundraiser. Profits help to support all the functions of the Home & School organization for the upcoming school year in addition to non-curricular needs of the school. There is a packet to look at with an order form at the kiosk in the Welcome Center and in the church narthex. Payment is needed with each order. Checks made payable to St. John’s Home & School. THE THEOLOGY OF THE CROSS: REFLECTIONS ON HIS CROSS AND OURS by Daniel M. Deutschlander. Are you living under the theology of the cross or the theology of glory? This new book looks at Christian doctrine and reminds readers that all biblical doctrine relates to Scripture's central teaching that God sent his Son to save lost sinners. However, it also deals with the seeming paradox between the theology of the cross and the theology of glory. Sinful people tend to overlook the cross and its demands. As a result they take their eyes off Jesus and turn their attention to themselves. It is a rich study of a weighty theological issue and a worthy addition to a professional or personal library. The cost is $17.99. The book is available from Northwestern Publishing House. Phone 1.800.662.6022 or www.nph.net. JOIN US TODAY, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, AT 9:15 A.M. FOR AN OPEN FORUM MEETING. ST.
