Visitation Pastor

My Story

I was raised in Mobridge, South Dakota, attended the parochial school of Zion Lutheran, where I vividly remember telling my 5th grade teacher that I was going to be a pastor when I grew up. God brought that plan to fulfillment as I ultimately attended Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon.  My first Call took me to Toledo, Ohio, and my second Call took our family to Grant Park, Illinois.  In the 8th year of my ministry I accepted a Call to Christ Lutheran Church in Big Bend, where I served for 36 years.  The Lord has blessed my wife and me with seven children and 18 grandchildren (so far!).

What to do in retirement?  The Lord provided the perfect answer when I was called to serve as Visitation Pastor of St. John's.  For the past five years, I've continually served more than 30 home-bound members, visiting monthly with a devotion and the Lord's Supper.  I truly do have the pleasure of regularly working with the fine people of St. John's! I'm also here to help our full-time pastors in whatever ways I can as they request it.

My Hope for St. John's

I would like to see St. John's grow spiritually and numerically. Spiritual growth will happen as there is increased contact with the Word of God by children and adults alike.  With an increase of knowledge come an increase of faith and a desire to invite friends, relatives, acquaintances and neighbors to share our joy and hope!
