How you can help.

First I'd like to thank all of you that have visited this site and have given me your feedback both positive and negative. We need to hear from you so that we can continue to improve this site and make it a pleasant and informative place to visit.

How can you help? Listed below are some of the things that you can do to really make this site shine.

Errors

Have you notice any grammar mistakes? spelling? Please don't be afraid to email me where they are on the site. I can't catch everything. Some of the mistakes are mine, some others. Many items come from other sources and I do as much copying and pasting as I can to save time. So email me, I won't be offended.

Submitting Items

Are you part of a group that submits items to be printed in "The Communicator", School Newsletter or church bulletin? When you do, submit it both as a printed sheet and in its digital form via email. There isn't enough time in the day for our secretary, pastors or myself to retype them into our documents. This gives us the options to just copy the item and quickly get it out or even better to just cut and paste the item into our document.

Pictures

Do you have a digital camera? I try to make it to as many events as I can to take pictures for this website, but there are many things that I miss. If you go to a church, school or sporting event and have pictures, email them to me. This does not automatically mean that they will all make it on the website, but if we can, time and web space allowing, then we will.

I know you love your child, but if for instance you are taking picture of a basketball game, be sure to get some shots of all the players. It might look a little funny if I post 20 images and they are all close-ups of one player.

There are a few things that you can do to help in processing the images before you send them. First if at all possible send them in a jpeg format.

Second, most modern digital cameras take very large mega pixel files. This is great for printing, but not so great for web publishing. The file sizes are just too big to allow for easy browsing on most home computers. If you know how to do it, resize the pictures to a no larger then 800 by 800 pixel size. This still is a very viewable image on a typical monitor and it makes your email to me much smaller. There are many programs that can do this. One probably came with your camera.  One of the simplest and free programs to use is Microsoft's own Powertoy called Image Resizer, but use whatever you're familiar with.

Are your pictures properly rotated? Do they need any image work such as image brightening or red eye removal? Anything that you can do ahead of time just makes my job easier. If you don't know how to do any of these things, still send me the pictures, I will take the time to convert and edit them.
